Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-15
This Cookie Policy explains how WordyLab uses cookies, browser storage, analytics, external resources, and similar technologies on wordylab.com. It should be read together with the Privacy Policy, which explains how WordyLab handles personal information more broadly.
WordyLab is designed so the main word tools, word lists, daily puzzle pages, and guides can be used without creating a login. We do not currently use cookies for login sessions, shopping carts, paid subscriptions, or saved personal profiles.
What cookies and browser storage are
Cookies are small text files that a website or third-party service can store in your browser. They are often used to remember preferences, keep a session active, measure site performance, protect a site from abuse, or support advertising and attribution.
Browser storage works in a similar practical way, but it is not always a cookie.
localStorage, for example, stores values in your browser on the same device.
A site can use it to remember simple preferences without sending that value with every
page request.
Similar technologies can include pixels, beacons, scripts, server logs, browser cache, request headers, and network requests to service providers that help operate site features.
WordyLab's current cookie approach
WordyLab's current approach is limited: use what is needed to load the site, remember simple preferences, understand broad site performance, and protect the service. The site does not currently run display ads or active affiliate tracking.
WordyLab's analytics are designed not to include newsletter email addresses, solver inputs, result contents, clue text, or answer lists. They are used to understand site performance and broad feature usage, not to build personal profiles from puzzle activity.
If WordyLab later enables advertising, affiliate tracking, a cookie banner, account features, paid features, or any materially different browser technology, this policy will need to be updated before visitors are asked to rely on the changed practice.
Cookie and storage categories
| Category | Purpose | Examples | Your choices |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary site operation | Helps pages load, keeps the site available, prevents abuse, and supports security. | Request data, security checks, and other technologies needed to operate the site. | These technologies may be necessary for the site to work correctly. |
| Preferences | Remembers simple settings on the same browser and device. | Theme preferences, display choices, or consent-banner choices if a banner is active. | Clear cookies, local storage, or site data in your browser. |
| Analytics and performance | Helps WordyLab understand whether pages load, links work, and tools are useful. | General page, referral, timing, and interaction information. | Browser privacy settings, privacy signals, and content blockers may limit some analytics. |
| External resources | Loads files or resources that help display or operate parts of the site. | Font files, icons, embedded resources, or links to external websites. | Browser settings, network controls, or content blockers may limit some requests. |
| Advertising and affiliate attribution | Not currently active on WordyLab. If enabled later, these technologies may support ad delivery, measurement, or merchant attribution. | Ad cookies, sponsored-link attribution, or merchant cookies after leaving WordyLab. | Future controls would depend on the provider, browser settings, and any required consent flow. |
Analytics and performance measurement
WordyLab uses limited analytics to understand whether the site is useful, which pages are working, whether links are being used, and whether important features are functioning correctly.
Analytics is intended to measure broad behavior and site health. It is not intended to collect newsletter email addresses, solver inputs, clue text, answer lists, or the contents of contact messages.
Some browsers, extensions, or privacy settings may limit analytics or similar technologies. Where a browser sends privacy signals that WordyLab can reasonably honor, WordyLab aims to respect those signals.
External resources
Some pages may load external resources such as embedded content, analytics scripts, or links to websites that WordyLab does not operate. Core site fonts are served from WordyLab. When your browser requests an external resource, that provider may receive standard technical request information.
External websites and service providers have their own privacy and cookie practices. If you leave WordyLab through an external link, the destination site's policy applies to what happens there.
Advertising and affiliate technologies
WordyLab does not currently run display advertising or active affiliate tracking. If that changes, this policy and related notices should be updated before visitors are asked to rely on the new practice.
If WordyLab later enables an ad network, that provider may use cookies, web beacons, device information, or identifiers to serve, measure, limit, personalize, or report on ads. Required controls would depend on the provider and applicable law.
If affiliate links are enabled later, tracked merchant links may use sponsored link attributes, and the destination merchant may set its own cookies after you leave WordyLab.
Newsletter and contact technologies
Newsletter signup does not require a cookie. If you submit a newsletter form, WordyLab may store your email address, signup source, consent, and timestamps in systems used to operate the newsletter.
Email providers may use delivery logs and similar technical data to send, deliver, suppress, bounce, or unsubscribe emails. Those activities are covered in more detail by the Privacy Policy.
How to manage cookies and browser storage
You can control cookies and browser storage through your browser settings. Most browsers let you delete cookies, clear site data, block third-party cookies, limit tracking prevention exceptions, use private browsing, or block specific third-party requests.
Clearing cookies or local storage may reset display preferences, consent-banner state, or other browser-only settings. Blocking site assets, scripts, or external resources may change how some pages load or behave.
If advertising is enabled in the future, additional ad controls may be available through the ad provider. Those controls would depend on the provider, browser settings, and any consent choices required at that time.
Do Not Track and privacy signals
Some browsers and extensions send privacy signals or block tracking technologies. WordyLab aims to respect browser privacy signals where they are available and technically practical.
Other privacy signals, browser controls, and content blockers may affect cookies, analytics, affiliate links, external resources, or ad technologies differently depending on the browser and extension settings.
Changes to this policy
WordyLab may update this Cookie Policy as the site, browser technologies, providers, advertising status, affiliate status, or legal requirements change. When the policy is updated, the date at the top of the page will change.
